The mission of 2-1-1 Long Island is to provide all Long Islanders a comprehensive internet connection to human services on a day-to-day basis and in time of disaster.
2-1-1 Long Island
2-1-1 Long Island is a free, non-emergency information service that connects Long Island residents to health and human services they may need on a daily basis or during a disaster.
Available online, 2-1-1 Long Island provides web visitors with detailed information on nearly 10,000 community resources for help and assistance in a range of areas. Some examples include:
• job training opportunities
• heating emergencies
• financial or legal counseling
• mortgage/rent assistance
• health services
• food assistance
• substance abuse
• education and training
• child or elderly care
2-1-1 Call Center
The 2-1-1 Long Island call center is a free and confidential helpline that easily links people to the services they need. Available 24/7, people can call about everything from basic needs like food, clothing and shelter to volunteer opportunities, legal services, drug treatment, employment support, childcare, eldercare and more.
2-1-1 Long Island is accessible by dialing 2-1-1 or 1-888-774-7633.
2-1-1 Online Database
The 2-1-1 Long Island database is a free, online directory of health, human services, and education agencies and programs on Long Island – services for children, teens, adults, families and seniors in both Nassau and Suffolk counties. With detailed information on over 10,000 community resources, 2-1-1 Long Island provides instant, keyword access to essential information for Long Island individuals and organizations.
2-1-1 Long Island reaches people wherever computers linked to the Internet are available, wherever people can benefit from its use – in their homes, in their workplaces, in community agencies, schools, and libraries. 2-1-1 Long Island is current, with information added and updated on a daily basis. The 2-1-1 database is managed by Middle Country Public Library and served Long Island for 25 years as the Community Resource Database of Long Island.
