SUFFOLK FAMILY COURT TASC

SUFFOLK FAMILY COURT TASC

General Information
Description of ServiceProvides an alternative program used by the Family Court to intervene with individuals appearing in court who are substance abusers. TASC identifies the level of addiction, makes a referral to an appropriate treatment agency, and monitors treatment progress for the Court. The TASC model includes a detailed assessment and development of a written plan designed to address the treatment needs of individuals appearing in Court. In Family Court, TASC intervenes with individuals in Court on PINS and Juvenile Delinquency petitions, Family Offense charges or Child Neglect petitions. Respondents participating in TASC must have a current history of substance abuse and be willing to enter treatment for a minimum of 12 months. Potential participants are identified by referral from the Court. The treatment plan developed by TASC staff is presented to the Court for its approval. TASC clients are monitored by staff with an expertise in substance abuse, and regular reports are presented to the Court outlining clients progress. Persons not complying with all conditions of the TASC treatment plan are brought back to Court for further Court Action. Family Court TASC also conducts Court ordered urinalysis as well as hair follicle testing. Call for further information.
