General Information
Description of ServiceReceives and records warrants forwarded by the Central Records Section for execution. Files, as detainers, warrants issued for persons already in custody. Makes necessary preparations for the Precinct Detective Bureau in extradition and rendition cases and assists other authorities coordinating the lawful apprehension and removal of persons wanted for crimes in other jurisdictions. The Unit conducts pickups from jails, utilizing Precinct Detective Squad detectives to accomplish this function when necessary. The Unit maintains the following warrants: felonies, persons residing outside Suffolk, persons wanted FOA. The Unit maintains files and conducts investigations of missing person cold cases.
