General Information
Description of ProgramEducates the public about services available to the homeless of Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Provides a hotline for housing referrals, supplies school backpacks and conducts a one day summer camp for homeless children. Provides coordinated applications to HUD for homeless funding and coordinates services to the homeless from more than 60 nonprofit organizations.

EligibilityPersons that meet the HUD definition of Homeless: Category 1 - Literally Homeless in a place not meant for human habitation or temporary shelter for homeless persons; Category 2 - Imminent risk of Homelessness, residence to be lost within 14 days and no where to go and nor resources; Category 3 - Unaccompanied Youth age 25 and homeless under McKinney-Vento Act; Category 4 - Fleeing or attempting to flee domestic violence with no where to go and no resources. Referral required. Call for appointment.
