General Information
Description of ServiceProvides conflict resolution services including mediation to assist parties to reach legally binding written agreements, in these areas: COMMUNITY-neighborhood disputes, harassment, criminal mischief, landlord/tenant, etc. CIVIL COURT-SMALL CLAIMS-cases referred by Nassau and Suffolk County District Courts and Town and Village Courts. SPECIAL EDUCATION-MEDIATION requested through school district for issues including placement, related services, evaluations, etc.EARLY INTERVENTION-referred by the NYS Department of Health for children between birth to three years for issues including assessments, medical needs, etc. ACCESS-VR-for individuals with mental disabilities who have no legal surrogate and who need non-emergency major medical or dental care. YOUTH DEVELOPMENT SERVICES-provide peer mediation, diversity, and character education training. LEMON LAW ARBITRATION-for consumers owning new and used automobiles, motorized wheelchairs, leased automobiles. CONCILIATIONS-for receipts and Nassau County DSS on the issues regarding compliance. CALL FOR FURTHER INFORMATION on any and all program components. AGRICULTURAL MEDIATION PROGRAM-for farmers, agribusiness and agricultural community involving loans, debts, family farm succession, and farm business plan. DIVORCE MEDIATION PROGRAM-assists divorcing couples with decision-making including parenting plans, living arrangements, child support, spousal support, property division and tax returns. Offers peer mediation, and conflict resolution training to schools and orgainizations.

EligibilityNassau residents. Cases referred by Family and District Court, District Attorney, Police Department, Department of Social Services, School Districts and self-referrals. Parental consent required for youth mediation. For Mediation Services, parties should not have any orders of protection against each other, no history of domestic violence, child abuse or pending CPS allegations.
 
Availability
Hours of Operation Mon-Fri 9am-5pm mediation hearings in evenings by appointment.
