General Information
Description of ServiceCollaborates with local school personnel in Queens, Staten Island, Nassau and western Suffolk counties to address students' inter-related mental, emotional, and academic difficulties. Offers prevention, treatment and rehabilitative services for a wide range of mental health and substance abuse conditions. Provides educators with a comprehensive list of available service programs and support groups, complete with descriptions, contact persons, procedures and telephone numbers. Assists with evaluations, outpatient appointments, admissions and referrals as appropriate. Offers schools site-based crisis and substance abuse services, consultations, professional development programs and thematic presentations. Maintains an interactive informational and educational website focusing on mental health and substance abuse issues, for use by school staff, students, and families. This site includes the Directory of North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Programs and Services.
