DRESS FOR SUCCESS BROOKHAVENProvides work-related clothing to low income women seeking employment. Women are referred to this program by agencies and organizations that deal with a variety of women's issues. The organizations may include job training programs, domestic violence agencies, and incarcerated women programs. Each client receives individual attention by appointment only. The program will accept donations from private residents, organizations and businesses of new or slightly used clothing as long as the clothing is in excellent wearable condition, laundered or dry cleaned and preferably on hangers. A Professional Women's Group (PWG) is available for women who have completed the program and are working. Due to lack of storage space, after November 7, 2011 only season appropriate clothing will be accepted: Sizes 0-4, Sizes 18 and up, shoes, purses, accessories and approved apparel drives. ESPERANZA HOMELESS CHILDREN AND YOUTH PROGRAMServes migrant eligible children and youth ages 3 – 22 that are also affected by homelessness in the Long Island – Metro region. Students that meet the NYSED – MEP criteria as “Priority for Service” (PFS) are considered to be at higher risk for needing assistance, and will be assigned a greater level of support through this funding source. These students are provided with additional advocacy, school supplies, emergency assistance such as food and clothing if needed, as well as supplemental educational support. Services are designed to support students and school districts in providing access and assistance to homeless, migrant students, and to remove the additional barriers to education that they experience due to their lack of stable housing. These services are available to families meeting the traditional migrant eligibility, as well as the criteria for homelessness, as stated in the McKinney-Vento Homeless Children and Youth Act, and are provided at no charge to families or school districts.
