The program is a rigorous and academically challenging program of online graduate study that combines a strong theoretical base with a practical focus on the important policy issues confronting managers and executives working in the cyber security, information technology, and homeland security fields. Utilizing a seminar-based case study approach, the curriculum is designed to develop and refine the skills necessary to apply innovative approaches to problem solving and to achieve resilient and adaptive patterns of thinking. The five-course curriculum is crafted to reflect the complexities and multidisciplinary character of cyber security policy and practice, providing managers, executives and other professionals with the essential knowledge, insights and skills to develop and implement cogent cyber security policies in public- and private-sector organizations. It also equips students aspiring to careers in the cyber security sphere with the information, understanding, and capabilities the field requires of its professionals. Areas of focus include cyber terrorism, the application of cyber technology and cyber security in law enforcement and the Intelligence Community, technology issues for policy makers, and the intellectual property, civil liberties, and ethical issues that shape the practices of effective cyber security professionals. These areas of focus are set against a broader background of contemporary homeland security, homeland defense, and national security issues, threats, and strategies. The 15 credits of the Advanced Certificate in Cyber Security Management program may form the core curriculum of the 36-credit Master of Science degree in Homeland Security Management, permitting qualified students completing the Advanced Certificate to continue their studies and earn both the Advanced Certificate and the Master's degree without any loss of credit.     AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICAL TRAININGOffers students a course to prepare for ASE Certification. Vehicles are far more sophisticated today than in previous decades and require technicians with more advanced technical training. Western Suffolk BOCES, accredited by the ASE Education Foundation, is equipped to teach you the skills that will help you advance in this field. Upon successful completion you will be prepared to sit for the corresponding certification exams which stress knowledge of job-related skills and lead to Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification. Learn the theory and skills to diagnose, service and repair cars, SUV’s and light duty trucks.     LANGUAGESOur instructor-facilitated online career courses are informative, fun, convenient, and highly interactive. Our instructors are famous for their ability to create warm and supportive communities of learners. All courses run for six weeks (with a 10-day grace period at the end). Courses are project oriented and include lessons, quizzes, hands-on assignments, discussion areas, supplementary links, and more. You can complete any course entirely from your home or office, any time of the day or night. A sample of the courses that are offered include: Speed Spanish; Discover Sign Language; Speed Spainsh II; Instant Italian; Beginning Conversational French. While the courses are all instructor-led, you do not have to log-in at any pre-defined time. Instructors lead the courses through discussion areas that can be accessed at any time after the course starts. Courses run for six weeks, with an available 10-day extension period at the end, and most take an average of 24 hours to complete. One lesson is released every Wednesday and Friday for the six-week duration of the course. You do not have to be present when lessons are released and you can login to the courses at any time after the course starts. You will have access to all lessons until the course ends. However, the interactive Discussion Area that accompanies each lesson will automatically close two weeks after the lesson is released. Wilson Tech offers online courses ranging from credit recovery to Advanced Placement. With Tech’s online learning program, your students can: Choose when and where to study; Make-up missed credits to graduate on time; Solve scheduling conflicts; Accelerate to complete high school early; Review for AP exams; Take AP or other courses not offered and Study while on medical leave.     ONLINE LEARNINGOffers an array of distance learning options for students who need flexible course schedules and formats. Students have the flexibility to integrate online and distance learning courses into their plan of study—anywhere from a few sessions in a course to an entire degree. Our distance learning courses and programs go through the same rigorous approval process as our traditional offerings. They feature well-designed courses led by expert faculty who use emerging technology and communication styles to emulate the personal, lively nature of a face-to-face classroom environment. In addition to fulfilling students’ academic needs, the online format augments information literacy and technology skills that are essential for today’s world and workplace. They Offer Blended Courses which are courses where 30 to 79 percent of the course is conducted online. Attendance at specified campus sessions is still required. The percentage of instruction that occurs online depends on the course content and is at the discretion of the faculty. They also offer Online courses where more than 80 percent of the sessions are web-based; however, some are 100 percent online.
