    Programs that provide information and guidance for high school students and others who are preparing for or in the process of choosing and applying for admission to a college, university or other postsecondary institution. Assistance may include information about various college/university programs and their requirements, advice on college/university selection, suggestions regarding high school classes students should take to best qualify for the school of their choice, information and counseling regarding financial aid, assistance in completing necessary application forms and supporting materials such as application essays, and advice regarding the scheduling of SATs/ACTs. The objective of most college/university entrance support programs is to help students select the most appropriate institution and present their credentials in a way that heightens their chances of having their application accepted. Included are programs that sponsor fairs where representatives from a broad range of postsecondary institutions are available to meet with prospective students and discuss course offerings, admission and financial aid requirements, college/university life in general and other information that is pertinent to the selection process.

    LIBERTY PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMRepresents a cooperative effort between the Suffolk County Community College and the Longwood Central School District, governmental agencies and business and industry to provide a unique, comprehensive and supportive environment for students for students who may be at risk of dropping out of school. LPP is funded by a grant from the New York State Education Department. The Liberty Partnerships Program serves those students in grades 7-12 who may not be reaching their academic potential by providing academic services that will improve their ability to complete high school and successfully enter postsecondary education or the workforce. LPP students who are juniors and seniors are also eligible to enroll in a two-semester program that leads successful students to one college credit upon completion. This offering contains a one-semester non-credit course that focuses on reading, writing, study skills, critical thinking and computer skills. The second semester course exposes students to topics of interest to college students and enhances their basic research skills. Additional credit-bearing courses are offered to students who successfully complete this sequence. LPP Program Services include: College preparatory coursework; Suffolk County Community College Seminar (leads to 1.0 college credits); LPP club and newsletter; Team building experiences; Cultural enrichment activities and field trips; Counseling; Tutoring and college placement test; ACT/SAT preparation classes; Regents review sessions; Student and parent leadership sessions and Workforce preparation which includes visits to and internships with business, industry and local colleges.     STUDENT ACCESSIBILITY SUPPORT CENTERServes as a resource for students and values self-empowerment, self-direction, and self-determination. Our mission is to advocate for a campus environment that meets the needs of students with disabilities. The Student Accessibility Support Center is the designated support service center to help students enable students with disabilities to develop their academic potential, by making their academic experience accessible.     STUDENT ACCESS SERVICESArranges academic accommodations and provides support for students with physical, learning and/or psychological disabilities. In order to access services, students must first formally disclose their disability by registering with the office, and then must submit appropriate documentation for review. Staff members are available to help students with the registration process, and then will work with students to determine which accommodations are appropriate for their needs at the college level. In addition to arranging accommodations, a major part of the mission of SAS is to help students develop the skills they will need to be effective self-advocates at Hofstra and beyond. The programs and services will encourage active involvement from students in managing their own disabilities, while offering coaching and support along the way.
