ADULT EDUCATION ONLINE INSTRUCTION CENTER	Offers online courses from the comfort of your home. Adults can update a skill set, learn a new hobby and even earn a certificate related to your professional field. Nassau BOCES Adult Education in partnership with Ed2GO offers short, individual, instructor-led courses designed by a team of professionals from each respective field to provide the most effective web-based learning experience. The instructors are actively involved in the students’ online learning experience as they will respond to any questions or concerns, as well as encourage and motivate students to succeed. With over 200 instructor-led online courses from Ed2GO, each runs for 6 weeks and consists of 12 lessons. You will spend approximately two-to-four hours each week completing two engaging lessons in an enjoyable, interactive learning environment. Expert instructors develop and lead every course and you will be able to interact with them and with fellow students in lively online discussion areas. The lessons are supplemented by interactive quizzes, assignment, tutorials, and an online discussion area available via the Web. Read your lessons and ask questions of your instructor at a time that is most convenient to you. New sessions start every month, and you can sign up anytime. ADULT LEARNING CENTER	Offers a variety of programs for adults who want to become more employable through improving their English language skills and basic education. The English as a Second Language program helps adults to listen, speak, read and write in English. The Adult Basic Education program helps students to improve their reading, writing and math skills. The High School Equivalency program, for adults who did not complete high school, helps students prepare for the New York State High School Equivalency Exam. APPEARANCE ENHANCEMENT	Offers a program to become a NYS Licensed Cosmetologist. Learn hair design, nail artistry, skin care and basic men’s hair cutting in our modern salons with the latest equipment and in a relaxed and friendly environment. After successful completion of the 1000-hour course you may take the Cosmetology NY State Licensing Exam for your license. Also offered is a State License Review Course for students who have completed a 1000-hour New York State Licensing Course and need to review for the written and practical tests and/or obtained coursework/experience either outside of New York State or the United States. In addition there is a course for those students who have completed 100 or more hours in an approved program to complete their hours and prepare for the Cosmetology State Board written and practical exam. BOCES is now offering a Barbering Licensing course. This course is a combination of classroom instruction and laboratory that will develop the professional knowledge and skills for the barbering license. COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY CROSS TRAINING PROGRAM	Offers a program whose goal is to prepare Radiologic Technologists, Nuclear Medicine Technologists and Radiation Therapy Technologists to sit for and pass the ARRT exam in Computed Tomography. Course curricula and clinical competency follow the guidelines established by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. The curriculum also corresponds with all of the requirements set forth by the NMTCB for their CT specific exam. Comprehensive didactic instruction includes, but is not limited to: patient care and safety, CT physics, systems operations and instrumentation, cross-sectional anatomy/data acquisition, image display and post processing of all imaging procedures, quality control, informatics, contrast media and administration along with intensive examination. Students are required to pass the program with a minimum of a 75% grade point average and will receive the ASRT approved 72 hours of CEU credits if they attend the entire didactic program. Attendance is mandatory for CEU credits. To qualify and complete all of the board requirements, Students will be required to meet all supervised clinical competency standards (at participating facilities or at your own place of employment) to be eligible for the ARRT and NMTCB exam. These clinical requirements can be achieved in concert and after the didactic course.Upon completion of the didactic and clinical components of the program, participants will be signed off to qualify to sit for the advanced level examination in CT offered by the ARRT and/or NMTCB. DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL SONOGRAPHY	Offers a 24 month program integrating the basic sciences, medical sciences and instruction in Diagnostic Sonography with supervised clinical experience in hospitals and doctor’s offices from Manhattan to Southampton. HOME INSPECTION	Offers two programs in Home Inspection at Molloy College: one program for currently licensed home inspectors to maintain their NY State license and another for individuals to become licensed in NY State. Both programs are offered at our Rockville Centre, as well as at our Suffolk Center at Republic Airport. Molloy College offers continuing education courses for home inspectors to maintain their New York State license. Molloy College offers a New York state-approved program for you to become a licensed home inspector. This "in-demand" profession will have you inspecting newly built or previously owned homes, condominiums, town homes, apartments and even commercial buildings. Home inspection is now a standard practice in the home-purchasing process. New York State legislation mandates that all home inspectors in New York obtain a license. An applicant must have successfully completed high school or its equivalent and complete 140 hours of approved training, including 40 hours of unpaid inspection experience under the direct supervision of a licensed inspector, or have 100 hours of paid or unpaid inspection experience under the direct supervision of a licensed inspector. The Language Center serves the needs of the community and is geared toward students who want to strengthen their overall language proficiency. LIBERTY PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM	Offers a collaborative program that provides students (grades 6-12) with a broad range of services designed to increase motivation and ability to complete secondary school and seek entry into post-secondary education and/or meaningful employment. Students must be enrolled in one of the four participating high schools: Hempstead, Uniondale, Roosevelt or Rockville Centre. Interested students must meet with their LPP High School Coordinator to discuss eligibility requirements. Sample programs include: The Saturday Scholars Academy which is designed to provide students with supplemental academic support leading to completion of high school. An array of preparatory classes, workshops, symposiums and college tours are available to students. The Summer Programs include the Interactive Summer Programs and the Summer Scholars Academy. The Interactive Summer program enrolls LPP participants in internships and classes, during the summer, to explore different careers, through connecting theory and practice. The primary emphasis is on student learning through hands-on experiences. Thematic educational trips, connected to internships, are scheduled throughout the summer, to further enhance learning as well as provide career exposure external to the classroom. The trips also provide information on how the discipline is applied in the real world. Lunch is typically provided throughout the week.
