    VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES-HAUPPAUGEVolunteers at the LONG ISLAND DISPUTE RESOLUTION CENTER (Hauppauge) are trained in conflict resolution in order to mediate between disputing parties and facilitate a dialog towards the peaceful resolution of the dispute. Advanced mediators may be offered training in specialized areas, such as custody and visitation, Lemon Law arbitration, Special Education mediation. An 30 hour basic mediation training is required plus additional 6 hours of continuing education per year in order to remain certified. Volunteers must be able to mediate effectively, neutrally and confidentially with sensitivity and diversity awareness. Mediators are required to be available to mediate every month and must be 21 years or older. These services are also offered at their Hempstead Location: 175 Fulton Avenue, Suite 400, Hempstead, NY.
