    A condition that occurs in acute or chronic forms which is caused by the ingestion of paint, cosmetics or other products which contain lead. Symptoms of acute poisoning include a metallic taste in the mouth, burns in the throat and stomach and later abdominal cramps and prostration. Chronic poisoning is characterized by anorexia, nausea, vomiting, salivation, anemia, the lead line on the gums, abdominal pains, muscle cramps and pains in the joints.

Informational pamphlets on lead prevention/exposure and reminder follow up letters are sent to parents/guardians of children with levels 10-19. Private provider follow up letters are also sent. Home visits with Environmental Team are made for levels greater than or equal to 20 or three consecutive high teen levels.
