    BURIALSCovers basic burial costs for recipients of Temporary Assistance, stillborn infants, or any person found dead in the county who is not under the jurisdiction of another social services district. Funeral director must be notified at initial contact that a social service funeral is being requested. While this is a year round service, it is also available for victims of the COVID-19 pandemic. A maximum benefit of up to $1,200 may be available for a burial or cremation, regardless of immigration status. Any licensed funeral director who accepts the Department’s policy is eligible for payment. To determine eligibility, an application must be submitted prior to the completion of services.     DRESS FOR SUCCESS BROOKHAVENProvides work-related clothing to low income women seeking employment. Women are referred to this program by agencies and organizations that deal with a variety of women's issues. The organizations may include job training programs, domestic violence agencies, and incarcerated women programs. Each client receives individual attention by appointment only. The program will accept donations from private residents, organizations and businesses of new or slightly used clothing as long as the clothing is in excellent wearable condition, laundered or dry cleaned and preferably on hangers. A Professional Women's Group (PWG) is available for women who have completed the program and are working. Due to lack of storage space, after November 7, 2011 only season appropriate clothing will be accepted: Sizes 0-4, Sizes 18 and up, shoes, purses, accessories and approved apparel drives.
