CHILDREN'S CENTEROffers a non-profit center located on the campus of Farmingdale State College. We provide a secure and stimulating environment for children from 8 weeks through prekindergarten. Priority is given to children of students, faculty and staff. Community children are also welcome to attend our center. At the Children's Center at Farmingdale State we use the Creative Curriculum for infants through Pre-school. This curriculum encompasses all areas of child development while incorporating all areas of early learning, (pre-writing, pre-math, pre-science, early literacy, music & movement). Teachers in the classroom are facilitators and nurturers, providing children with age appropriate activities, encouragement and support. Our Pre-K program provides children with the skills necessary for kindergarten. Our state of the art facility offers heated floors throughout the classrooms, and central air for the warm summer months. Our indoor gross motor room offers an alternative to outside play when the weather is not cooperative. Call for more detailed information regarding the childcare center. DIANE LINDNER-GOLDBERG CHILD CARE INSTITUTEOffers a quality early education program for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. The Child Care Institute (CCI) is licensed and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The program focuses on the child's total development-social, emotional, cognitive and physical. The program offers developmentally appropriate activities for children ages 8 weeks to 5 years, providing opportunities for hands-on, integrated learning. The CCI is open year round, Monday through Friday and breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided. Enrollment is year round and open to the Hofstra Community and families living and working on Long Island. The environment is clean, safe, secure and aesthetically appealing, containing a child-centered playground and wonderful outdoor space, inclusive of Hofstra's beautiful campus and facilities. The CCI encourages parent involvement and education in an enriched learning environment. The interdisciplinary services of the clinical programs associated with the Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center render the CCI unique in the provision of education, care, assessment and enriched learning environments for young children and their families. The CCI is now a Champion Center! The CCI is one of the first child care centers in Nassau County to earn this designation from the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). The CCI has just completed the Eat Well Play Hard Program Initiative (EWPH) under the auspices of the Child Care Council of Nassau. EWPH was developed by CACFP to prevent childhood obesity and reduce long-term risks for chronic disease through promotion of targeted dietary practices and increased physical activity. The initiative just called for programs to step up and provide more nutritionally balanced meals and snacks, teacher training in nutrition and physical activity, parent education workshops and food discovery activities in our classrooms. Champion Centers are held to very high standards and are required to increase the number of healthy snacks provided. In addition to NAEYC reaccreditation, the Diane Lindner-Goldberg Child Care Institute is recognized as a preferred provider servicing military families by the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies and as a “Breastfeeding-Friendly Child Care Center” by the New York State Department of Health’s Child and Adult Care Food Program. The Child Care Institute is licensed, and it was reaccredited by The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
